This past weekend was not all about the guest bedroom because in between the raindrops, and while waiting for spackle to dry, I managed to plant these two new industrial planters, the Oscar planters from CB2.
You’ve seen the recent progress on the outside of our house with our new front door, painted brick and windows, and planted planter box, but we still had one area that looked pretty bare (in case you couldn’t figure it out on your own, the black arrow will show you):
Instead of going with our more traditional house-style, I went for these industrial planters for some fun and to give a hint that everything inside our house may not be as traditional as it seems from the outside. And now for the gratuitous-blog-photo-montage:
I really like seeing them when I walk out my front door and head toward the brick path – they surprise me every time!
Okay, best part about these planters is this random story. So my folks live nearby in a pretty awesome condo-type place (remind me to show pics of their re-done interior soon – think sparkly marble, walnut floors, metallic walls, and amazing appliances and décor). Their place has only 4 units in it and they’ve befriended another couple that live there. So after my mom sees our industrial planters she starts telling her neighbor friend about them and how she wants to get the same ones, and the neighbor friend says “oh, actually, I saw some awesome round planters the other day and even snapped a photo I thought they were so amazing”. So the neighbor friend pulls out the photo, shows my mom, and my mom can only laugh because the neighbor had photographed my very planters and front yard. Too weird. I figure if strangers stop to photo your yard, you must be on the right track.
Anyone else do a tiny front yard update? Or have a random story of people photographing your house? Now if only it would stop raining, then I get paint the upside-down “V” on the outside of our house!
