After updating my boy’s room I also did a few updates in my girl’s hot pink and green bedroom. Of course you can’t update one kid’s room and not the other – not just for the sake of fairness but also to avoid the inevitable whining. I generally try to keep things pretty equal around the house, and a few pretty inexpensive updates to her room made everyone happy.
First we added a couple of new prints. Both the frames and prints are from Ikea – so easy and inexpensive. The hardest part by far was to pry the tabs off the back of the frames to open them (anyone else manage to break a nail or two when doing that?).
Before putting the new prints in her room, we had to do some clean-up. At one point, things were looking like this:
Luckily, things improved pretty quickly with my aggressive cleaning and organizing skills. Then I bought a new sheet for her bed.
A new sheet does not sound exciting. But it is a little bit exciting when you are three years old and when you are super happy that your multi-colored polka dot sheets match your multi-colored polka dot wall.
Finally we added a few random leftover birthday decorations to her wall to complement this crazy tree art. And if you’re wondering about the artist, that would be my mom. She made this during a team building activity for her job and it ended up here. I actually think it is pretty cute and so fun to have handmade art in my girl’s room.
Best of all, my girlie totally digs her new updates. And best of all for you, later this week I’ll share where this room started. You will not believe it. One word: kitchen. And here’s a visual:
Whoa, don’t let that pic scar your eyeballs. Back to a couple of current pics to erase that trauma.
Isn’t that kid chair just so cute? And it swivels!
Anyone do some reorganization and add a few little things for a fun kid’s room? Or update both kids’ rooms at once, just to keep the peace? Okay, get excited for some before and afters of this room later this week (warning: the before is downright scary)…
