Whelp, I’m a day late and way too many dollars short for this One Room Challenge due to the massive buying spree I’ve been on for this room. If you’ve been watching me on Instagram, mostly on my stories, then you’ve seen all the goods piling up on my porch and landing in our master bedroom. In this past week we’ve received our new bed, mattress, dresser, desk chair, dresser lamp, sconces, and side table. And we still need so much more! But I haven’t only been online shopping, I’ve also been painting like a fiend. And here’s where I tell you that everything in this room is currently terrifying white. So, so white. White floors (you saw that last week), white bed, white dresser, and newly painted white walls, baseboards, and quarter round. I literally wake up at night and my eyeballs search for something to land upon – I need to paint my master bedroom deck doors black asap. All this white will tone down (it must tone down!) with the addition of rugs, art, textiles, etc., but for now grab your sunglasses and see where we’re at.
The new dresser arrived and it’s cool. Sometimes it’s hard to order a big piece of furniture without seeing the finish in person, but this one turned out great. It’s from RH Teen – love that I’m trying to be a teenager or something. But the white is a lovely shade and the best part is the hardware and how it sits on the floor.
And this love seat? “Love” is right. It’s “Happy” from Article and while it looks pretty tailored it is very, very comfy. And happy.
Oh, and the bed arrived. We had a fun time building that one – because an hour before guests arrive for dinner is always a good time to tackle a major project like that. But we got it done, opened up our new Tuft and Needle mattress, and even prepped the apps all seconds before our guests arrived on Monday. I’m a girl that thrives on pressure – thank goodness.
This past weekend we installed quarter round and I painted several coats of white on the walls, baseboards, and other trim, which leaves us with just about white everything. Next up is adding in color. Or at least something other than white. I can’t wait for the new rugs, to install the sconces, add art in my new desk area, and create a fun sitting area.
Catching up on the to do list, here’s where I’m at:
- paint very damaged/sad floors white – DONE!
- replace fan – DONE!
- paint walls – DONE!
- add quarter round – DONE!
- paint baseboards/quarter round – DONE!
- paint doors/trim black
- online shop ’til the break of dawn – PROGRESS BUT MORE TO GO!
- assemble all that furniture that shows up on our doorstep – ALMOST DONE!
- pick/order art – this one is my hardest and the clock is ticking
- pick/order rug – second hardest
- pick/order textiles – oh, the pressure!
- finish room…
Catch up on week 1 here for the befores and week 2 here for the plan. And did I mention I’m out of town this weekend? Eek! Lots to do, but I will be posting behind the scenes here – first up is probably painting those doors black…
