Whoa guys, this room is going to be a tough one for me. If you’ve been checking me out on Instagram and my Instagram stories then you’ll know I’ve made some progress (painted floors! new fan!) but otherwise I’ve been all over the board on where our master bedroom is headed. And to get real with you, I’m still not totally certain of where it will end up. So, take my proposed plans with a healthy dose of skepticism, but here’s what I’m thinking so far.
Some things are for sure such as the bed, love seat, dresser, mirror, and black doors. Everything else is subject to change. I’ve eschewed a label on this room (who says eschewed??) in favor of just going with what we like. The Mr. wants a room that is clean, cozy, and sophisticated. I want a room that is clean, bright, and awesome. Very glad that we agree on clean, as it is evidence that my clean-freak tendencies are finally wearing off on him.
Okay, let’s talk about what needs to get done:
- paint very damaged/sad floors white – DONE!
- replace fan – DONE!
- paint walls
- add quarter round
- paint baseboards/quarter round
- paint doors/trim black
- online shop ’til the break of dawn – sort of done!
- assemble all that furniture that shows up on our doorstep
- pick/order art – this one is my hardest
- pick/order rug – second hardest
- finish room…
Wow, that’s a lot to do in the next few weeks. Currently my biggest hold-up is the rug. I was thinking jute with a kilim on top, but maybe something softer/cozier would be better? Oh the decisions! But well, since I’ve only done two things (fan and floor) here’s a glimpse of all that courtesy of my iPhone.
And just to remind you, before shots are here. The window for ordering/shipping items is nearly closed, so it’s time to commit to some decisions. Can’t wait to make some progress this week and share more of what’s happening with you soon! This week should be a biggie with painted doors, quarter round install, painted walls, chair and love seat install, and arrival of our new mattress. Check out the progress here and next week I’ll share more – hopefully those black doors and maybe a sneak peek or two of furniture arrivals…
And as always, I can’t recommend enough checking out the One Room Challenge designers and participants here. Eye candy for days.
