I may have a little obsession with marbled paper. To feed that obsession even more I ordered this black-gray-silver-gold marbled paper to perk up the back of our dining room hutch.
I first used marbled paper in our guest bathroom, and I still really love it in there. So when M nixed my plan to ditch our dining room hutch altogether (I wanted to keep the base and just temporarily take off the top portion), I decided to at least spice it up with some marbled paper. Hello spicy sparkly paper.
I checked out other decorative paper, but kept coming back to the marbled paper to use as a sort of wallpaper on the back of the hutch. Other papers seemed a little more traditional, and I liked that the marbled paper had such nice variation, was somewhat subtle, and best of all – sparkles!
Our hutch started out all black and boring.
And now it looks all sophisticated and fun. Like the girl you want to meet at a party.
It was super easy to install – I just slid it behind each shelf and then taped the back side of it, using blue painter’s tape.
Brief side note on hutches here: I love having fancy-pants china, and the idea is that if I keep some of my main china dishes in an easily accessible spot, like this hutch, then I’ll use them more. The reality is, I still don’t use the china as often as I’d like – so maybe some sparkly paper will prompt me to do a china breakfast tomorrow…
What’s so great about this paper backing is that you can use it for any bookcase, shelving unit, etc., and you can pick whatever style suits your fancy (oh, mine’s from Paper Mojo by the way and they have tons of great paper options). And I think the newly spiffed up hutch will look great during the holiday season, too – it just pairs so well with mercury glass (another little love of mine)…
Anyone else add some sparkle to your life lately? Or have a weird obsession with marbled paper? Love to hear!
