Hi everyone! I’ve had a ton going on behind the scenes here which means I’m doing more living and less blogging. But I really can’t complain considering we’ve been having so much fun this summer! I know I say it all the time but it’s so true, summer is my very favorite season and I want it to last forever. During the school year we are so busy with kid activities but we quit all sports/groups in the summer and just try to have fun. We’ve had quite a few weekend getaways and last night’s anniversary getaway (14 years!!) at the Inn at Langley on Whidbey Island was a real highlight.
Also a highlight was seeing my guest bedroom (above) pop up in Studio McGee’s blog post “Get the Look: Coastal Cool Bedroom.” I had actually clicked on the article to get some ideas for updating my guest bedroom and I totally cracked up to see my very room shared on that post! Guess I don’t need to do as much updating on that I thought…
The rug in that guest room (here) is a real favorite and I’ve been thinking about moving it out to the entry so I can see it even more often. And can one ever have too many basket lights? Because now I want these (best prices I’ve found!) somewhere too.
I’m closing out summer by wearing a ton of dresses and lately I’ve bought a few from Urban Outfitters (this one, this one in blush, and this one in peach) because they are a great price point and so easy to wear. But here’s the real question: is late 30s too old to wear them??
On the house front I’ve been verrryyy sloooowwwly been painting our exterior trim and brick. Years ago I painted our brick and window trim an antique white and either I was color blind when I did it or the color significantly darked to tan, but whatever it was, things were looking pretty ugly out there. So I’ve been re-painting all of it Benjamin Moore’s Oxford White and everything is looking much brighter and happier. I’ll share when it’s all done, hopefully this weekend!
Last, I get asked fairly often about design/blogger/home events and I’ve only done a few ones locally. But HGTV’s big one on Monday is definitely one I’d hit up if I was in the NYC area (and it’s free and open to the public!). If you are interested, you can rsvp here.
Okay, that’s it for this week. Now back to enjoying summer…
