Both my husband and our kitchen got the best joint gift ever: a new industrial, modern, commercial, oversized, large-scale, semi-professional, awesome kitchen faucet from Blanco. Too many adjectives? I think not.
Not only is this gift awesome, it was totally necessary. I think our kitchen had the same faucet from when our kitchen was updated back in 1991-92.
And as you can see, it also still has the same glass tile backsplash. While the faucet style wasn’t our favorite, it also didn’t work that well. The hose would catch every time you tried to pull out the sprayer. Then something inside the faucet broke so when you turned on the faucet, it was stuck somewhere between stream and spray, which meant the water came out in a dribble. We tried to fix it (didn’t work), tried to get a new sprayer head (ugly and only a marginal improvement in spray speed), so resigned ourselves to live with it.
In the meantime, M spent a ton of time proclaiming his jealousy over my parents’ new kitchen faucet. They must really like him, or really got sick of listening to his envious comments, or felt a little guilty that our faucet broke when my dad was using it, but regardless of the reason, they got M a matching faucet to theirs for father’s day. My parents are much cooler than I am (I got M nothing), and I am pretty sure after this gift M might think so too. After giving his profuse thanks, M got to work installing the new faucet.
Oh yeah, I snuck a butt shot! All that under-the-sink work paid off.
This thing is amazing. Not only does it work (yay!) it looks good too. We both love the style and it is freaking functional – I love it when those two things come together so well. The only problem with this beautiful new faucet is that it makes the rest of kitchen look pretty shabby in comparison. You’ll have to wait for more kitchen stuff for another day, for now, let’s enjoy this:
Anyone else install a new faucet lately? Or have parents that not only rock but are great at giving joint gifts for people and houses? I’m off to plot our new kitchen…
