Happy holiday season friends! I just love this time of year and especially love getting into the holiday spirit by decorating our home for the holidays. I used to wait until closer to Christmas to decorate, but all my decorations start coming down on the 26th (because once Christmas is over, I’m over it!) so in the past year or two I’ve decided to decorate earlier so I can have more time for Christmas fun and less time spent decorating in a rush. This year I’m again joining Laura’s Meaningful Holiday Home Tour where a group of bloggers share their homes decorated for the holidays. Scroll to the bottom to see a sneak peek of all the homes and links to them, with three homes featured each day this week!
My tour last year (here) had no red in sight, with lots of pink instead, but this year I’ve gone mostly neutral with some red here and there. When you enter our home, here’s the view straight ahead.
I have been using this same faux garland for years on our stairwell and some fresh ribbon every year is all it needs. This year I added a new little tree to our entry to really make it feel festive and welcoming. Best part is, both the garland and tree lights are on timers so our entry is all lit up and glowing when we come home from work/school every day.
Also in our entry is this console table, which just got a little bit festive with ornaments on the mini fir (which amazingly I’ve kept alive since last year), starbursts, and shiny trees.
Right off the entry is our guest bedroom which got a little bit of cheer thanks to a simple copper garland draped over the headboard.
One of my favorite spots to cozy up all winter is our window seat. I’m a big reader and this spot is close to the family action but separated just enough to allow for some quiet time.
And for a bit of glam, how about this bar cart? I’ve had those copper trees for years now and every year they find a new spot. I think they fit in perfectly here with the new print and copper mugs.
Every day of the year I love having our tv over our fireplace, except for in the month of December. It doesn’t exactly make for a festive set up with that big black box but I just decorate around it and call it good. And this year I brought back out these fair isle stockings which my kids love because they are bigger than our other ones and fit more in them!
Our living room/dining room/kitchen are all open to each other so while not everything looks exactly the same, I like it to flow. And the dining room is in the center so I kept it neutral with whites, metallics, and some greenery.
And how about a peek at that new, winter gallery wall? This week I’m sharing more details about that, so come on back to check it out with all the print links.
For our kitchen I kept the wreath the same as last year but added a red and white ribbon just for some holiday cheer. And the matching bowls of mini ornaments help add some additional color.
Upstairs I added some whimsy to our master bedroom with a collection of bottle brush trees, happy garland, and more.
For the most part I tried to keep everything simple and happy, just how the holidays should be, right?
So that’s it for the 2017 tour. Notice anything missing? The tree! We always get a live tree so wait until a little closer to Christmas to decorate that, so no tree yet. Also, while I do love a beautiful tree, our family loves mixing in all of our meaningful, handmade ornaments so it isn’t exactly design inspiration. But it sure is happy and that’s what counts.
