I finally jumped on the decorative DIY duct tape tray bandwagon. Here are the fruits of my less-than-10-minutes of labor:
Dude, did you really expect a bigger project than this right after I got home from Spain? I am still recovering from the jetlag and getting used to being a mom again! Actually, I’ve been really wanting to do this project for a while, especially after seeing Megan’s ridiculously cute snakeskin version. So when shopping for school supplies and seeing some scalloped and solid turquoise duct tape, I was ready to roll (get it? roll? like roll of tape? I clearly am funnier in my mind than in type). Here are my supplies – duct tape and a trusty Nordstrom shoe lid (courtesy of my girl’s fall boots – thanks girl).
I first taped the inside area with the scalloped pattern and then taped the outside in solid turquoise. No real magic for this, just unroll the tape, cut it, line up your scallop pattern, and stick it to the lid-turned-tray. Then put a few things on it, set it on your dresser, and that’s it – that’s how you make a duct tape tray.
I just noticed that last one was a close-up of some bird butt. Nothing like some bird butt to really show off your tray.
So, next time a roll or two of decorative duct tape leaps in your shopping cart, grab a shoe lid and make yourself a DIY duct tape tray (that is if you haven’t done this already). Love to hear your duct tape pattern of choice!
