I have a new love in my life: this drum semi-flush ceiling light fixture.
We lived with this old one for three and a half years before we saw the light (so easy, you know I had to throw that pun in there).
(Don’t mind that cute photobomber.)
I first spotted my new love in this kitchen:
Don’t you just want this whole room? Yes, you do. I do too. It is from Dear Lillie and I highly recommend that you check out all the great pics of their made-over kitchen and adjoining family room – so cozy and lovely! I was pretty much sold when I read they also used Benajmin Moore’s London Fog for the color of the cabinetry (you know how I love that color). But what I was really hooked on was the light fixture. I’d been looking for a light like this for our hallway for-what-seemed-like-ever without any luck. My criteria: semi-flush mount; drum shade; white; bronze-y metal; and bright. So when I found a light that could fit all my criteria, and that I could get just up the street at Lowe’s, I was sold. Or rather it was sold – to me.
The light is not too stand-out but not too dull – perfect for a hallway. All I had to do was source it and then M did the rest by removing the old light fixture, spackling the ceiling, and installing the new light (thanks, M!).
Although our old light fixture had three bulbs and this one only has two, the new one seems much brighter. In a good way. Our hallway gets no natural light except any that sneaks in from the adjoining bedrooms/bathroom, so extra lighting is very welcome.
This light is totally helping this space be almost “done”. It sat bare for years and then got a new coat of paint (um, hello, London Fog), pictures on the walls, a new rug, and now a new light fixture. Not much else one can fit into this little hallway, so I think this is one space I can just about cross off my spreadsheet.
Anyone else chase down a light fixture from a photo? Or fall in love with simplicity? Ahhh, this light totally brightens up my life (again, just couldn’t help myself).
