Things are crazy around here (CRAZY!) with work for M and I heating up, our boy starting kindergarten, our three year old girl acting like a teenager, M having a dudes’ golf getaway, and on and on. But sometimes when things are crazy, I go extra crazy and add more mayhem to the mix. I have no explanation for myself. But cue the banquette redo:
Necessary, right? Our banquette is super useful, but super gross. These cushions were leftover from the previous owners (remember the two sisters who lived here, without kids, for 50 years?). The cushions were heavy, flatter than pancakes, and unwashable. Unwashable. Seriously, how did these cushions even survive for five seconds with two kids, let alone three years? Truth is, they didn’t.
They were so trashed, I got to the point where I really had no choice but to ditch them for freshies. Not an easy task trying to pick fabric that would work with two kiddos and lots of messes. And then I figured, why do cushions that will only get ruined? How about wood? I just did a wood bench in our entry, and I freakin’ love it. So I Googled, Pinterested, and Houzzed, and found other wood benches that made me feel slightly less crazy for opting for wood instead of cushions. Like this:
I figured it would be so easy to do – just slap on a wood top to the bench and call it a day. No so, friends, not so. I got carried away. Think eleven 2x4s, paneling, and pillows. Off we go!
Anyone else just dive into crazy or get carried away with what-should-have-been-a-two-hour project? Hmm, just me? Well stick around to see how it goes…
