Two solid weeks in Hawaii were awesome. I loved spending every day at the beach with these cuties.
And I didn’t want to come back. But now that I’m here, I keep wandering around my house thinking: ahhhh, home. In a good way. In a I-really-missed-my-home-and-the-life-we-have-created-here way. So often I think
we I can get caught up in wanting to do more, build more, create more, accomplish more, but it is so nice to take a moment and just feel good about the home you’ve created so far. When we walked in our house from vacation, our house was a whopping 50 degrees. But walking in the door still gave me that cozy feeling of home.
After getting home so late, it felt good to tuck the kids in their beds, and hear them say how they missed their special beds, special pillows, and special “stuffies”.
Once the kids were in bed, M and I wound down by kicking up our feet on the coffee table with a glass of wine and a midnight snack.
After sleeping in, I am pretty sure I took one of the longest, hottest showers of my life. And while standing there, it really hit me that I love that bathroom. Re-builidng the entire thing was a family project and now it just feels like us. And it feels good.
In fact, the whole house feels good. With all the crazy things that life throws at us, it is so nice to take a moment to be happy about what we have and how far we’ve come. Our house has looooooooooong way to go until it is even close to being “done” (um, we are still living with random sections of plywood flooring), but coming home to a house filled with this sure makes me smile:
Here’s to wishing all of you a happy and healthy home and a great start to the holiday season.
