Sometimes you have to look back and see how far you’ve come before you can give yourself a kick in the ass to keep moving forward. I am super jazzed about some projects on tap for 2014, but before moving on too quickly, here’s a look back at some popular posts (by pageviews) and some of my other favorite projects shared in 2013.
First up on the popularity list is the tuorial on how to create deck posts for making your outdoor lighting dreams come true. That one could be popular because of all my talk about poles, stripping, and screwing, or maybe people really just like outdoor lights.
Second, a tutorial on making a nailhead upholstered headboard (copycat of West Elm’s version). This really finished off our guestroom redo this year and our guests have loved it.
Third, the storage system we created for our entry to corral all those coats, hats, shoes, and other kid stuff. This thing is really getting a workout this winter! And I’ve had so fun hearing from people that have built the bench portion for their own entries.
Fourth, the $75 DIY coffee table a la Restoration Hardware style. We have used the heck out of this thing and it looks just as good today as the day I finished it.
Fifth most popular is the floating shelf sink vanity I created for our guest bathroom. It is holding up strong and the wood is still in perfect condition, despite lots of use. This has been another fun one to hear people trying it at home.
These next few are ones I really liked. Like recovering our dining chairs – taking them from naked to snazzy in an afternoon.
And also sharing our totally redone guest bathroom – I still love those painted white floors and kind of want them everywhere.
And then rebuilding our banquette in our breakfast nook.
I think I called that space all done, but have been doing even more in there since – it is one of my favorite spots in the house now and I’m excited to share it.
I’ll be back with some fun new updates for 2014 – think building furniture, finishing a few spaces, and new demo/construction in the new year. I’m excited to be done with travel and holiday decorating and get my hands dirty again. I sure hope you will stick around to see the fun updates!
Happy new year friends!
